For genealogists and historians in the New England/New York area and those of you looking for a good excuse to visit the Northeast, the Massachusetts Genealogical Council Annual Meeting and Seminar will be held July 21, 2012 at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. This year's theme is Ethnicity and Genealogy, and the seminar will feature four tracks and two workshops.
We have so many fantastic speakers that I guarantee you won't be able to decide which sessions to attend! Our featured speaker is Lou Szucs, FUGA, vice president of community relations at Ancestry.com, who will present the luncheon talk plus two other sessions. Topics cover immigrant origins, methodology, cultural considerations and particular record groups. All levels from beginner to advanced will find something of interest.
An MGC legislative panel will provide updates on national and state legislation and provide guidance on how you can participate in the effort to keep public records open and accessible to all.
Members save $25 by registering before July 1st (joining and registering both possible online (http://www.massgencouncil.org). Non-members will save $10 if they register by the same date.
So many of our colleagues will be speaking at this conference! Come show your support and have a great time learning, networking, winning door prizes and enjoying the included breakfast and lunch. Besides, Boston is beautiful at this time of year!
I hope to see you there!
