Hi Joanne--It's a good question--In some ways I think this network is ideally suited to garner attention for situations like the Robbins house. Because we are up against a very tight timeline, I thought the more people who knew about this, the better. But you're right, a separate module is probably a better mechanism.

Joanne - I got sick! I actually stayed home from work sick. And of course both of us got caught up in my trauma and forgot about the meeting so by the time Marguerite remembered it was to late for her to go. So I am hoping we can connect at another time - go easy my friend and let us know how we can continue to help!

Hi Joanne,

Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to make it. There is a meeting in Ipswich that I just can't get out of. Was I expected to "say something?" If so, I was unaware...I hope I didn't mess something up...please advise....

Well, well, well... When I visited the network this morning, we had 95 members. Came back this evening - we've broken the 100-member mark! One hundred and six illustrious members, and counting. The honorable 100th member was (drum roll, please) Jayne Gordon - welcome Jayne!

I just visited the Andover Historical Society's fine website, courtesy of a link from Exec. Dir. Elaine Clements. Wonderful site, very rich layers of information. Also a nice use of Google Calendar to track Society events. Made me wish we could just import the AHS calendar events to the MA Studies Network events calendar. We'll have to think about that.

Here We Go!

I'm delighted to report that the National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded the Mass. Studies Project at UMass Boston a Digital Humanities Startup grant to explore micro social networking here on the Ning platform. This project has also been designated as an NEH "We, the People" initiative.

Our collaborators in this experiment will be a group of intrepid local historians, teachers, community activists, librarians and community members. I'll try to blog regularly about our experience with… Continue
