Where Do You Consider Your "Hometown"?
Boston, Massachusetts
About Me:
Born and raised in the Athens of America, I attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Suffolk University with both a BA in history and MEd in Education.

I originally wanted to join the CIA, since research was my true love, but then I saw the movie "Three Days of the Condor" with Robert Redford, and realized that teaching was a higher calling.

During the day, I am a secondary level history coach for the Boston Public Schools working with teachers around improving pedegogy. At night, I don my cape and teach the methods class at UMass Boston to future teachers. I also sit on the board of directors of both the National Council for the Social Studies and the Mass Council for the Social Studies. I have been a member of both the Mass Council and the Greater Boston Council for over 25 years. I have been scoutmaster of a small urban Boy Scout troop for over thirty years and instruct Dutch oven cooking.

Most importantly, I root for the Boston Red Sox.

Welcome, Steve! It's great to have you here. And inspiring to know you chose teaching over the CIA ;) I bet you'll find a number of friends and colleagues on this network- like Bobby Robinson. (I'm Bobby's successor at the Mass. Studies Project, now that she has retired.) MSP is hoping to develop some good, solid services here for teachers interested in local studies. Your input would be most welcome on that. Looking forward to meeting you in person one of these days!
