What is your interest in the Mass. Studies Network?
I am the new editor of the Historical Journal of Massachusetts. The HJM is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year by Westfield State College. As the only scholarly journal devoted exclusively to the history and culture of Massachusetts, the HJM has filled an important role since its founding in 1972.

We cover all topics and aspects of the Commonwealth’s past —from its Native American heritage through its colonial and revolutionary roots to the present. We strive to include all fields of history, including political, social, cultural, economic, labor, legal, and immigration. We also seek to highlight the unique histories of different groups and populations, including women’s history; ethnic and religious studies; and the diverse experiences of the state’s many minority groups. We also include studies relating to Massachusetts culture, literature, arts, and humanities and are interested in articles on the teaching of Mass. history for K-12 teachers.

We are seeking new authors and subscribers ($12 annually). We welcome contributions from novice authors as well as established scholars. We are also seeking book reviewers, peer reviewers and anyone who might be interested in serving on our new editorial board. For more info see our new website (after 9/9) at http://www.wsc.mass.edu/mhj/ or e-mail us at masshistoryjournal@wsc.ma.edu

Mara- Feel free to set up a "group" for the HJM. Or post a "call for submissions" in the classifieds section. Let me know if you have any questions!
