Hi Jayne:
Jim (and I) will be teaching a summer class at the Conservatory starting at the end of June ... would you like to try to get together for a lunch or cup of coffee during the summer?

Welcome aboard, Jayne. We met briefly at a MCC workshop a year or so ago, when I was working at a historic house museum. Glad to "see" you again! Historic landscape walks... that sounds like a good new "interest group" -- feel free to start one! :)

Cool. I think we could be very helpful to each other ...and we are neighbors.

Jim, my husband and partner, is on the fulltime faculty at the Conservatory. We just finished a month of seminars there at the Conservatory with our "What a Weapon is the Ballot" program (200 years of American political life--illustrated lecture/musical performance.) I also come in to "guest lecture" to grad students on 19th and 20th century American culture and music.

BoCo is my home away from home, anyway. I'm there a lot when not tending to the SHS or our Institute. (This last is something we should talk's not tied specifically to Salem, but to all of American and Celtic history...thru music.)

So it should be easy for us to hook up, even physically!

I'd like to invite you to link with me as a colleague. We have many, many strong interests in common, especially since I specialize in the 19th century and have serious interests in Thoreau, the Alcotts, etc.

What a joy to welcome you, Jayne, as the Network's 100th member! I hope you find it useful. How are things at MHS - what's next up in education and public programs? I'm the director of the Massachusetts Studies Project at UMass Boston. We would love to expand local and MA studies offerings in schools across the state, a difficult undertaking in these test-driven times...
