Where Do You Consider Your "Hometown"?
This is a trick question. I live in Newton, but I have moved too often, and actually enjoy that feeling of "at home" I get when I visit any of several cities. Cities I visit often enough to have favorite walks, parks, coffee shops, and old friends include NYC's Lower East Side, Toronto, Boston, San Francisco, and Jerusalem.
What is your interest in the Mass. Studies Network?
To network with other Mass. cultural heritage folks and get a sense of who is doing what. To learn from others and to contribute what little my organization knows.
About Me:
Klezmer and blues enthusiast, online community enthusiast. At heart I am still a typographer, my original trade. That's where I first learned that both utility and grace must be present to make a page readable. To my surprise, the same is still true for web pages, and one more proof that virtual community is just another facet of "community." Another facet? The things Jane Jacobs wrote 50 years ago about community seem to apply directly to online community, too.

Your Organization:
The mission of the Jewish Women's Archive (JWA) is to uncover, chronicle, and transmit to a broad public the rich history of American Jewish women. We are an online-only archive, so there is a small office and no displays to visit. We do as much as we can with smoke and mirrors.
Your Title:
Director of Online Strategy

It is online. Try this link: http://www.wcwonline.org/womensreview
or Google "Women's Review of Books" and then "Marilyn Richardson"
Sorry to be so low-tech.

Ari,

erin's email i left with you yesterday was incorrect -- sorry! it's logsdon@nelinet.net. anyway, if you know about her and have even spoken to her -- that's the important thing! our spring conference is March 31 -- save the date! and happy new year!

hi Ari! i'm so sorry to hear you aren't getting messages -- not that there have been so many, but the ones that are there you should be getting. Erin Logsdon at NELINET is now our go-to person -- do you know that? at any rate: elogsdon@nelinet.net. I'll let her know you need to be added.

happy chanukah and new year. perhaps we can get together and try to get some "stuff" going...?

Welcome Ari! Tuesday's meeting was a good one - informative and packed with intriguing leads. I've already downloaded and played with Memory Miner software - very interesting indeed.
